Coyotes fascinate me. They are so incredibly intelligent and adaptable. I observe them frequently at my house and hear them howling just about every night (which always makes me nervous because I love the gentle animals like deer and bunnies). Native Americans revere them as great teachers for us, highly intelligent but also full of mischief and trickery. The Zuni people associate coyotes with the color blue and I often find myself seeing a lot of blue in “Don” coyote when I start to paint. Don is model for many of my coyote paintings and is a permanent resident Runnin’ W Wildlife Center in Cornville. He is so handsome and full of all the coyote hijinks!!! Here are a couple more of my recent coyotes paintings!
